The Aleph Gitarrenquartett is an ensemble for contemporary chamber music, which, by its artistic approach and unusual
cast, is paving the way for new realms of sound. Numerous composers are writing pieces especially for this guitar quartet
and as a result of this close collaboration the ensemble is creating a completely new repertoire, thus enriching the field
of contemporary music.
In addition, the quartet encourages composers to write arrangements of traditional works. Highly unusual programs are being created by the juxtaposition of contemporary works and arrangements. On stage, Andrés Hernández Alba, José Javier Navarro,Tillmann Reinbeck and Wolfgang Sehringer are highlighting the exclusive character of
the group by combining excellence and sensuality.
The Aleph Gitarrenquartett was founded in 1993 and was the winner of the Karlsruher Kammermusikwettbewerb in the
same year. Among other honors, the quartet has been invited twice to perform at the Villa Massimo
in Rome, has been on the roster of the Stiftung Podium junger Künstler and has been supported by the Ernst
von Siemens Musikstiftung as well as by the swiss endowment Pro Helvetia. The four guitarists are performing
regularly at contemporary music festivals in Germany, Europe and Asia and they are cooperating closely with national and
international broadcast corporations.
The Aleph Gitarrenquartett is being supported by the city of Karlsruhe and the state of
Baden-Württemberg.
